Nepal Protest: There has been tremendous uproar in Nepal since the decision to ban social media platforms. The youth took to the streets and protested fiercely against the government and so far 19 youths have died in this violent protest. About 400 protesters are reported to be injured due to police firing.   1. Protesters in Nepal are also targeting the offices of political parties and the houses of leaders. In view of this, the security of these offices and leaders has been increased. Hundreds of soldiers have been deployed outside the offices of PM KP Oli’s party CPN-UML and Nepali Congress. Crowds are gathering in Kathmandu once again and the situation is constantly deteriorating.
  2. Earlier, the protesters had set fire to the CPN-UML office on the evening of 8 September. Apart from this, the houses of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, President Ramchandra Poudel, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung were also vandalized and set on fire. The house of the Communist Party President was also vandalized.
  3. Due to the deteriorating situation in the country and violent protests, resignations of ministers are also coming to the fore. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak resigned after the incident, after which Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari also resigned. It is being told that Health Minister Pradeep Poudel and Women Development Minister Naval Kishore have also submitted their resignations. So far, five ministers of the Nepal government have resigned.
  4. After the continuous resignations in Nepal, it is now being said that the KP Oli government may fall soon. However, the name of any leader has not been announced by the protesters so far. It is believed that elections can be held in Nepal once again.
  5. Many celebrities of Nepal have also given their support to the protesters. They say that the government should respect the sentiments of the youth. The majority of youth in this protest are between 20 and 25 years of age, that is why it is being called Gen-Z protest.
  6. The protesters say that this protest is not against the social media ban but against corruption and nepotism, this protest will continue until KP Oli resigns and the government falls.
  7. Protests had started in Nepal a few days ago, but the government clearly refused to bow down to them. After this, the protest became more violent and people started moving towards the Parliament House. After several hours of effort, the police took the protesters out of the Parliament House. Seeing the situation worsening, the government had to withdraw the decision and the ban on social media was lifted late on September 8.
  8. Nepal PM KP Oli has called an all-party meeting on the evening of 9 September, the final decision can be taken after this meeting. At present, the police and the army are not able to control the situation and the protests are continuously intensifying.
  9. A few days ago, the Nepal government had issued an order to shut down all social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. These companies were asked to register within a week, but this did not happen. After which the government took the step of banning.
  10. An official statement also came from India regarding the Nepal case. In which India said that India is keeping an eye on the situation in Nepal. The Foreign Ministry said that the death of youth in the protest is sad. These issues should be resolved through peaceful dialogue.
